Martin A. Perry, 82, of Jacksonville, formerly of Danville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born March 28, 1920, in Danville, the son of Anton J. and Anna M. Vaskevic Perry. He married Betty Ann Gray in 1942 in Urbana; she died in 1985. Mr. Perry retired as an engineer from the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Anchor Lodge 980, Gao Grotto and Scottish Rite Valley, all in Danville, and the Ansar Shrine in Springfield. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the 21st Weather Squadron of the 8th Air Force in Europe and Africa. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with three battle stars and the American Defense Medal. Survivors: a son, Jon Michael (wife, Margaret) Perry of Jacksonville; and four grandchildren. Private services: Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Cody and Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements.
