Richard E. Tenney, 89, of Akron, passed peacefully on August 30, 2018.

He was born on August 18, 1929 in Akron, Ohio to the late Earl and Nellie Tenney. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Firestone Tire as a firefighter for 40 years before retiring in 1990. Richard was an avid amateur radio operator, his call sign was WD8IKI. He loved bowling, golfing, and fishing. He also enjoyed music and playing the organ. After his retirement, he and his beloved wife, Marjorie enjoyed camping at Charles Mill Lake together.

In addition to his parents; Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Tenney; aunt and uncle, Emmy and Red Benson; and his cousin, June Benson.

Richard will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Tenney; children, Brenda (David) Smith, and Brian Tenney; grandchildren,

Christopher and Lauren Smith; and many longtime friends.

Services will be privately held. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
