David Lee Timmerman, 83, passed away peacefully with his three children at his side on Sunday, August 24, 2014, in New Castle, Indiana, where he had lived for the past two years.

Dave spent most of his life in Indianapolis. He was born December 9, 1930, to the late Elvin and Charlotte (Huber) Timmerman and was a 1949 graduate of Warren Central High School. Dave attended the Jordan College of Music and graduated from IU with a degree in string bass. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, playing bass in the Navy Band, and beginning his career in playing bass in dance bands and tuning pianos.

Dave was an early computer programmer and spent much of his career doing computer programming for Blue Cross and Peerless Pump. He received an Electrical Engineer Technology degree from IUPUI.

Dave enjoyed amateur radio (licensed as WB9CER) and astronomy; he was a Life Member and former president of the Indianapolis Radio Club. He especially loved spending time with his family . particularly his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary; his brother, Don; and his grandson, Robert Edward Hamilton. Surviving him are daughters Therese Hamilton (husband Donald) of New Castle and Diane Timmerman (husband Steve Webb) of Brownsburg; a son, Charles (wife Suzanne Edmands) of South Pasadena, CA. Dave.s grandchildren include Eleanor Hamilton; Charis, Barek, Asher, Teka and Tsehai Webb; and Calla and Meryl Timmerman.

Visitation and funeral were August 28, 2014, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. The family wishes to thank the staff at Glen Oaks Senior Living and the Henry County Hospital ICU for all of their kind care of Dave.
