I am located in southeast Wyoming about 15 miles east of Cheyenne. Finally have some time to operate HF; with plans for both phone and CW. If you found me on CW, thanks for your patience. I mostly use LOTW and "club buro's". However, I reply to all cards sent direct (SASE not necessary but appreciated). My primary station consists of a Yaesu FTdx-3000 usually connected to a 43 ft Vertical. I also use an OCF dipole for 80M, Mosley Triband beam and a dipole for 160M. Had a 40m beam up for a short time but the Wyoming winds turned it to scrap! I also have an IC-7300 in my workshop where I seem to spend most of my time. Unfortunately antenna selection inthe workshop is limited to the Vertical and a 40/80 trap dipole. I really like the FTdx3000 but the IC-7300 is soooo much easier to operate. I still do the occasional tower climb for myself or friends but those days are mostly in the rear view mirror. The military brought me to Cheyenne, WY in 1989 and I retired from the US Air Force in 1992 and decided to stay in Cheyenne, WY. Then in 2003 I moved to Gering, NE to work in a Motorola service shop. Seven years later I moved back to Wyoming where I bought a small home with enough acreage to grow some antennas. I did a little of this and some of that for a while and then retired from the county public works department in September of 2019. The Straight Key Century Club got me started in CW and CW Academy, sponsored by CWOPS, was a lot of fun and really helped my CW skills. 73, de WB7GR - CW Ops #2833, SKCC #1809, FISTS #19754, CQC # 258, NAQCC #10490 March 20, 2021 |
