Marlin Eugene Gilman, 84, died Friday, August 12, 2022 at Wesley Acres in Des Moines. A Celebration of Marlin's life will be held at the Earlham Community Center at a later date to be announced.

Marlin was born December 4, 1937 at the family farm near Earlham to Everett and Mabel (Boyle) Gilman. He suffered from Rheumatic Fever as a child, which developed into Rheumatoid Arthritis. Although the disease was debilitating, Marlin did not let it stop him. He rose to each challenge with a smile on his face. He became an Amateur International Ham Radio Operator, call sign WA0AUX, starting as a Handiham. Marlin was proud to live independently on his family Century Farm most of his life.

Survivors include his sisters: Patricia Greenwell of Sun City, Arizona, Beverly Powell of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews. Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roger Gilman.
