ROGER C. HOLLOWAY, 93, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Friday, Aug 4, 2017 at Franciscan Health in Michigan City, IN Born Jan. 27, 1924 in Michigan City, IN, Roger was the son of the late Amos and Hildagard (Shebloski) Holloway. On June 1, 1952 he married Annette Emmons, who passed away on Sept. 8, 2003. Mr. Holloway was a 1943 graduate of Isaac Elston High School and Valparaiso Technical Institute. Mr. Holloway was employed at the Northern Indiana Public Services Company for 33 years. He retired in 1983 at which time he held the position of Electric Substation Superintendent. Mr. Holloway was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Oct. 28, 1942. He served with the 87th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations. He participated in the the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, European African Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Battle Stars, WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp. He was discharged Dec. 8, 1945. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve on Jan. 12, 1947 and was discharged Jan. 12, 1955. Mr. Holloway was a past member of the Michiana Alumni Band, Michiana Alumni German Band and the Midway Brass Sextet. He also played tuba in the the Michigan City Municipal Band for several years. Mr. Holloway was a member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Northern Indiana chapter XXX, American Legion Post 37, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2536, the 87th Infantry Division Association, Michigan City Amateur Radio Club, The Old Old Timers Amateur Radio Operators Club and The Quarter Century Wireless Association. He was issued FCC Amateur Radio station license call letter W9VBJ and was active in Amateur Radio since 1947. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He is survived by three sons, Steven (Susan Westfall) Holloway of Fort Wayne, IN, Mark (Deborah Cumper) Holloway of St. Joseph, Mich., Paul (Suzanne Albright) Holloway of Michigan City; grandsons, David and Jonathan Holloway; granddaughter; Christena Holloway, two cousins, Mrs. Catherine Johnson of Tomahawk, Wisc. and Mrs. Delores Faye of Wausau, Wisc. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN Rev. Dr. Lance Hilberg officiating. Visitation for family and friends is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Cemetery, Michigan City, IN with Military Honors presented.
