Harry Snyder, WØRN, writes about W9TFO . . .

Here is Bill Hepfinger, W9TFO at his rig in Blair, NE, about 1938 or '39. Rig is homebrew with each stage -- a tube and its circuits -- on an individual chassis. Talk about spread out! This rig, with a 210 in the final, ran some 50 watts or so on 160 meters. The receiver was a Hallicrafters, and the wooden box to its right is the code oscillator I learned my first cw with. Bill's antenna was a half-wave across two lots to a third neighbor.
