Mr. Lane was born in Clinton on April 21, 1919, son of Fred and Belle Crawley Lane. He retired in 1979 as an electrician for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was a World War II Air Force veteran, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and an amateur radio operator. He married Dorothy Morrow in 1959 in DeWitt County. She preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 1992.
