Fred Becker, age 91, formerly of Wisconsin Dells, passed away peacefully at Crestridge Senior Living Center in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on Friday, October 23, 2015 following a courageous battle with old age.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a short service beginning at 5pm at the Picha Funeral Home, 321 Washington Avenue, Wisconsin Dells.

Fred was born March 17, 1924 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin, the son of William and Helen (Carlson) Becker. He attended New Lisbon schools and graduated in 1941. He then began working for the railroad and later enlisted in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946.

In October of 1946 he married Helen Schirmer and became the father of three children. He continued a long career as dispatcher and telegrapher for the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line and lastly Canadian Pacific Railroads. He retired in 1985. Fred stayed very active with the telegraph and ham radio as favorite hobbies.

Fred was strong witted, had a boyish smile, was social, outgoing and fun. He enjoyed dancing with his wife, golfing at which he accomplished a hole in one, walking and spending time with friends.

Fred is survived by 3 children: Linda (Ken) Fedraw, Janet (Mike) Feehan and Bill (Rebecca) Becker; 5 grandchildren: Tamara (Tom) Recke, Melanie Fedraw, Jacob Feehan, Amanda Feehan and Gregory Feehan; 2 great grandchildren, Peter and Emersen Recke; and a sister, Charlotte Kaehler. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; grandson, Csaba Recke and brothers, Howard and Arnold.
