Chapter 160

Keith B. Anderson, 84, of Rigby, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Pine Brook Assisted Living Center in Rigby.

Keith was born July 7, 1926, in Murray, Utah, to Charles Albert and Lima Hales Anderson.

He attended Midway High School in Menan and graduated from Blackfoot High School.

After he graduated from high school, he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad Co. as a depot agent. He retired in 1986.

Keith was an avid rock hound for personal enjoyment. He volunteered as a 4-H leader, teaching 4-H members about rocks and "gems." He took his young family on many adventures, rock hunting and teaching them as he taught others in his 4-H groups. As children, we remember him polishing, in his rock tumbler, the "gems" we found on those adventures.

He was devoted to radio armature for more than 50 years, with the call sign of W7LQU. He provided civil defense assistance during the Teton Dam Flood in 1976. He was a member of the National Association for Amateur Radio, Morse Telegraph Club Inc., and the 50 Years Wireless Organization.

Keith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of high priest. He married Eileen Scully in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on Dec. 27, 1952. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 22, 1956.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; and daughters, Judy Anderson of Rigby and Cora Anderson of Henderson, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bryan Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 W. First St. in Rigby, with Bishop Greg Hayward officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
