Norris Bundy, 91, passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2011.
Norris was born on Aug. 27, 1920, in Wenatchee, Wash. As a child, he was fascinated by aviation. He and his friend witnessed Clyde Pangborn's Trans-Pacific touchdown on Oct. 5, 1930, in Wenatchee. That was the beginning of a lifetime dream to fly airplanes.

While aviation was his passion, Norris also had an interest in radio. He became an avid ham radio operator at age 16. During his life, he had the opportunity to meet many people with the same love of radio, and keep in touch with his military friends.

Norris lived through the Great Depression and had a keen sense of what it took for a family to survive tough economic times.

Norris served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Germany. He had the privilege of flying for his country during the Berlin Airlift.

When he returned stateside, he met and married Norma Novak. They were married for 20 years, until her death in 1972.

In 1975, he met and married Marian Stevens. They lived their lives and had made many friends in Alsea. They had a beautiful life together. He lost her Sept. 21, 2010. Marian's son and wife, Thomas and Gwen Stevens, reside in Alsea.

Norris was a 32-degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, as well as a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association for ham radio. He loved flying, ham radio, fishing, crossword puzzles, and listening to and playing the bagpipes.

Norris is survived by his two children, Greg Bundy of Portland and Mary Anne Sutherland of Medford; grandson Morgan Bundy; two step-granddaughters, Laura Compton and Andrea Baker; and one step-grandson, John Stevenson.

A viewing is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
