First Call: W7IKI in 1941

Born in Seattle, at Columbus Hospital, February 27, 1924. His parents were Edgar B. Miller and Florence Mary Miller (Graison). Raised on Queen Anne Hill. Went to Queen Anne Grade School, and O'Dea High School. He was in the Merchant Marine before the war and after the war. He was a radio operator on the Wide Awake ship. They took in supplies for starving people in Europe after World War II. He spoke of that often.He was also a radio operator in WWII. He was stationed at Anchorage and Attu and Adak Islands. After WWII, He went to Edison Technical to finish High School, and then enrolled at Seattle University to earn his Bachelor of Engineering.

His first job was at the Naval Yard in Bremerton in 1954. After a year, he was hired by Boeing as an engineer. He worked there for 32 years. Married in 1953 to Mary E. Mitchell, in Spokane, and resided in Bremerton 1 year 1953-54. Then they moved to Seattle when he started working at Boeing. Moved to Federal Way in 1964. After 40 years, they moved to Lake Wilderness Villa in Maple Valley in 2004. They enjoyed their retirement years, going to Mariners games and active at Kent Activity Senior Center, especially their winter programs and ski trips. He also enjoyed his Ham Radio and sports on TV!

He took up hiking, skiing and climbing with the Mountaineers in 1959-1962. He was on the Ski Patrol and the Mountain Rescue Co. in the 60's. Later on he was in the Coast Guard Auxiliary after retirement.

They had three children, Karen Wadel (Bruce), Shirley Clark (John) and Michael Miller. Three grandchildren, Emily Klingler (Brian), Corianne Clark (Niko) and Jesse Clark. Two great-grandchildren, Austin Klingler and Collin Peralta-Clark.After retirement, he enjoyed being an amateur Ham Radio operator and bowling. They also went on trips with the Kent Senior Activity Center, mostly ski trips both downhill and cross country. They also traveled to Europe 3 times.He fought Cancer for 5 years. He was a strong person! He will be missed by all!
