Carl E. "Gino" Holton, beloved husband, father and grandpa, passed away Jan. 11, 2014. He was 87 years old. He was born on Aug. 2, 1926, to Leonard and Leona (Phillips) Holton in Coffeyville, Kan.

Gino was a WWII veteran, having served in the United States Coast Guard.

He moved to Prescott in 1977, and was co-owner of Inter-Mountain Communications until his retirement. He was one of the early pioneers in solar energy, going "off the grid" in 1980 with a solar earth-sheltered home that he designed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen; his three children, Charles (Sherril), Kenneth and Joy; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
