Robert Edward Munn June 13, 1935 - December 21, 2020 San Diego Robert Edward Munn Ed, to all who knew him passed away on December 21st, 2020 in San Diego, California.

He died at home, peacefully, with his family around him. Ed was born on June 13th, 1935 in Corona, CA to Dr. William Munn and Mae Munn. As a boy he was a strong student who participated in his school's bands as a clarinet and saxophone player. He also developed an early passion for amateur radio particularly microwave communications a hobby which continued to fascinate and inspire him throughout his entire life. A Stanford educated electrical engineer, Ed began his career in 1957 at the US Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Corona, before transferring in 1970 to the US Naval Electronics Laboratory in San Diego. Over his 38-year career he participated in and headed dozens of major projects, spanning a wide variety of technical fields, before retiring in 1995. A wonderful husband and father, Ed's first priority was always his family. He was an avid supporter of his sons' many athletic endeavors from baseball to soccer to surfing and he served as an active leader in their Indian Guides and Boy Scout organizations for many years. He was also an avid traveler, planning and executing many family camping trips throughout the American West. And during his long retirement, he and his wife Marcia continued to follow their wanderlust both at home and abroad roaming by road, by rail, by water and by air. In his entire life Ed never once threw away a map.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marcia, his sons Carl and Eric (Catalina), his granddaughter Rebecca, and his sister Joan Scholz of San Luis Obispo.
