John Henry Moore Sr passed away peacefully on November 9, 2013 in Coppell, Texas. He was born in Dallas on August 6, 1929 to Cohn and Elsie Moore.
He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War and later retired from the commercial air conditioning business. For the past 15 years, he has been a faithful volunteer at the DFW National Cemetery.
His wife, Joan Moore, preceded him in death, as did his parents, brother and sisters. He is survived by his children, John Moore Jr., Carolyn Moore Solchenberger, and Catherine Moore Cothran and her husband, Chuck Cothran; grandchildren, Heather Moore Mabery, Travis Solchenberger, Tyler Cothran and Cooper Cothran; great-grandchildren, Mason Mabery, Grace Mabery and Madison Cothran; sister-in-law, Gail Dobbins and her family; and brother-in-law, Gary Fisher.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church, 1091 Country Club Drive in Mansfield, Texas. Interment will be held at the DFW National Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
