Elbridge B. Charlton Sr., 87, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011. He was a retired chief petty officer with the U.S. Navy and the Ethyl Corp. He was a native and resident of Baton Rouge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Aucoin Charlton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Juliana Clark, Carol Hutchcraft and George and Judy Kenyon and Leonard; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Elbridge B. Charlton Jr. and Kerry and Jack Weber Charlton; 10 grandchildren, Bridgett, Bobby, Sarah, Jay Harper, Max, Tammie, Rusty, Will, Michael and Jill; 15 great-grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Issac, Abigail, Megan, Kristen, Megan, Brittany, Ashley, Emma Grace, Chandler, Colton, Emily, Sam and Ty; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kassidy and Jace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbridge H. and Sarah Catherine Butterworth Charlton; an aunt, Gladys Butterworth Smith; and uncle, Joseph Butterworth.

A graveside service will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park.

His ham radio call was BRARC-W5MD. He graduated from University High School Class of 1940, attended LSU, was a life member of the Quarter Century Wireless Club and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea.
