Judith Renee Young, 79 Judy died on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 with her husband and daughter at her bedside in San Jose, CA. She experienced a sudden and massive stroke in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Judy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ron Young; sisters Diane Zongolowicz and Elizabeth (Joan) Grattan; daughter Wendy and son-in-law Eric Bahr; grandson: Alex and his wife Xenia Bahr; granddaughter Katie and her husband Dane Summerell; and great-granddaughter Nora Summerell. Judy was a very beloved aunt and had many nieces and nephews in Virginia and spread around the country. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Vina Jenkins and her brother Robert Jenkins. Judy was born in Portsmouth, OH on May 26th, 1941. She grew up in both Ohio and Virginia graduating from Clarksburg high school in Ohio. She and Ron moved shortly after marriage to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. They travelled the country with General Electric living in California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Judy was an excellent homemaker and cook, known for her many specialties including made from scratch Hungarian crescent rolls, German Chocolate Cake and Buttermilk pies. Entertaining, cooking, collecting antiques, going to Tidewater Tides baseball games reading, and spending time with her extended family were a few of her passions. Judy was the consummate hostess always excited to have beach picnics, family Christmas parties, and backyard cookouts. She was a member of the Virginia Beach Amateur Radio Club - call sign W4JJY. Her taco salad was always a field day favorite. She and Ron enjoyed their weekly dinners with fellow club members and dear friends. From early on Judy gave back, she volunteered as a troop leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop, helped teach 4-year-old kids at Sunnybrook Day School and was an elections poll worker for many years at the Princess Anne Courthouse location in Virginia Beach, VA. She and Ron liked to travel and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a multi country trip across Europe and they returned to Italy and Austria again 14 years later for another family celebration. Always up for an adventure and putting family first, after more than 45 years in Virginia Beach, Ron, and Judy moved to San Jose, CA to be closer to Wendy and Eric and their grandchildren and great granddaughter Nora. We were blessed to have these past two and a half years of family Sunday dinners and fun in the pool watching Nora learn to swim. There was always lots of food and fun around our fire pit, plus winery visits and many birthdays and holidays to celebrate. Always the amazing caregiver she loved to take care of children, helping to raise her grandson Alex and granddaughter Katie when they were young and caring for many of her nieces and nephews on occasion. She also lovingly cared for her mother Vina after her father's passing for close to 10 years while Vina struggled with Alzheimer's. Not surprisingly Judy was a donor who hopes her contribution can help others. Judy's family and friends remember her constant smile, generous and loving nature, and compassionate caring for others.

Darling and Fischer Funeral Home is handling cremation arrangements. A memorial service will be held at Los Gatos Memorial Park in Los Gatos, CA. Later in the spring or early summer a memorial is planned at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Virginia Beach, VA.
