Mr. Timothy Richard Marsh age 92 of Shelbyville passed from this life early Sunday morning, July 21, 2013, at about 1:00 am at Glen Oaks Convalscent Center after an extended illness.


Born June 12, 1921 in the Lincoln Community of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Richard A. & Blanchie L. Mathis Marsh.
Mr. Marsh served as a communication Specialist and instructor in the intelligence branch of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) near Washington D.C. during WWll. He began his radio broadcasting career at two stations near Chicago and later Jackson, TN. Mr. Marsh engineered and constructed Shelbyville and Bedford County's first commercial broadcasting station in the fall of 1946 and continued to serve as Chief Engineer and staff announcer for many years. He owned and operated Motorola 2-Way Communications for many years
Mr. Tim and his wife Helen Marsh were appointed Bedford County Historians in 1985 and jointly authored and published over 75 historical and genealogical books on Middle Tennessee. He served jointly with his wife as Bedford County Archivist.


He was licensed as an Amateur Radio operator in 1942, was a long time member of The Sons of the Confederate Veterans and was a 45 year Mason and a member of the Presbyterian Church .Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Helen C. Marsh, son Leslie D. (Mary) Marsh of Wartrace, TN, daughter Marsha J. (Al) Addessi of Shelbyville, TN, grandson Timothy J. (LaDonna) Edwards of Nashville, TN, granddaughter Melissa M. Edwards of Greensboro, NC, 2 great granddaughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Edwards & Kathryn Michele Edwards.
