Our Father, William Bill Houston Clinton, 99, departed this earth on April 8, 2013 to join our Heavenly Father. He was born on July 20, 1913 in Miami Florida to the late C.C. and Miriam Clinton.

He graduated from Ponce De Leon high school where he was a star left-handed baseball pitcher. On December 30, 1936, he eloped to Fort Lauderdale and married the love of his life, Susie Jordan Eubanks, who predeceased Bill on December 29, 1998 after 62 years of marriage.

Bill joined the US Naval Reserve in 1932 and went to active duty in 1940. He fought in the largest battle in 1944, Layte Gulf, aboard the USS Intrepid. He returned back to the states and became an Amateur Radio Operator supporting our soldiers overseas by contacting the families and allowing them to converse. He retired from the Navy and went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration in Orlando Florida. He joined the Ham Club, American Legion and the Fleet Reserve Association. He became a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner where he was on the director s staff for 20 years.

He and Sue returned to Jacksonville in 1994 due to Sue's health, he was her caregiver for 16 years. He joined the church becoming very active, and his church Maranatha Baptist Church, kept his spirit going. He was a trustee and cared about everyone there as much as they did him. He was also the oldest male WWII veteran in Jax and was a 50+year outstanding member of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch #126.

He is survived by his loving family, a son James William Clinton (Karen) of Winter Park, Florida, daughter Sandra L. Mangindin of Jax, FL, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great- granddaughter, niece Carleen Evans of Uvalde, TX and nephew, James Guy Wilson, Jr. (Yvonne) of Sautee, GA.

The family would like to thank the staff of True Aging, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, West Jax Health and Rehabilitative Center and to all his friends who cared for him. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday, April 12, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd N., Jacksonville. Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens with military honors.
