Francis Amory Saxon was born in Augusta, GA, on January 20, 1902, to Henry Franklin Saxon (a writer and poet) and Isabelle Coffin. He graduated with an engineering degree from the Georgia School of Technology in 1923. He married Verna Swindell and raised a family in Augusta, where he was employed as the chief operator for the City Police Department, and later as engineer and superintendent at Georgia Power. He passed away on August 25, 1983, in Opelika,
