Russell Nyce Kulp Sr, 97, of Westminster passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House.

He was born on March 4, 1919 in Souderton, PA and was the son of late William Y. and Sarah (nee Nyce) Kulp. Twice married he was the loving husband of the late Carmen Kulp who predeceased him in 1974 and Carolyn Kulp whom he married in 1977.

Russell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII, and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Master Engineering. He was employed at NIH in Washington D.C. where he worked as a Medical Engineer, retiring in1971.

He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and sang in the Carroll County Barbershop Chorus as well as the Frederick Catoctones.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children Douglas A. Kulp of Virginia Beach, VA, Russell N. Kulp, Jr., of Cary, NC, and Diane C. Hirtz, of Mt. Juliet, TN; step children Delice M. Thompson of Frederick, MD and Ann C. Hundertmark of Frederick, MD; siblings J. Wesley Kulp of Gettysburg, PA and Louise Bell of Letitz, PA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Robert N. Kulp and Harold Kulp and by Marian Kulp.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Carroll Lutheran Village Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster MD 21158, where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with military honors and with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Entombment will be held in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
