JONESTOWN - Patrick A. Dunne Jr., a retired state trooper whose hobby, amateur radio, served him well in his profession, has died. He had worked in the state police communications unit at regimental headquarters here, retiring in 1976 with 34 years service. Assigned to the Bureau of Technology Services, he first worked in radio communications, later in Teletype. He had been an amateur radio operator since he was 16 years old. He was a good, loyal fella, said retired state police Sgt. Harold K. Trout of East Pennsboro Twp. He had a good sense of humor. You could depend on him. Dunne, 78, of 25 Plymouth Drive, died Thursday in Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe; a graduate of Lebanon High School; a Lutheran; a life member of Lebanon F&AM Lodge 631; and a member of American Legion Post 883 and the Elks. He was the widower of N. Lucille Straub Dunne. Surviving are a son, Patrick A. III of Jonestown; a daughter, Lucille P. Forrest of Edgewood, Md.; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Taylor-Ruffner Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, North Annville Twp. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
