Chapter 6

Aug. 16, 1922 - Aug. 23, 2007

Celebrate with us the life of Robert M. Resconsin who passed away Aug. 23, 2007.

He was born to Robert B. and Dorothy M. Resconsin in Osceola Mills. He attended Altoona schools. He lived at Diamond Lake, Glastonbury, Conn., before moving to Everett.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara, whom he married Dec. 15, 1960; his daughter, Sharon, married to Geoffrey Clark, of Everett, their four children and five granddaughters; a daughter Karen, married to Roger Wheeler, of East Randolph, Vt., their two children and three granddaughters. A brother, James, formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and a great-grandson preceded him in death.

Bob had a career in mobile and marine electronics. He built several radio stations in the Bedford County area and in Connecticut. He was a lifetime member of the American Radio Relay League. He had a schedule every night at 10 p.m. with a group of ham radio operators for 50 years. The Beaver Valley Network began with six to eight members. They had yearly reunions and many of those reunions were held in Bedford County; usually around Fall Foliage.

He loved woodworking and building his own clocks. He was always busy in his shop building or repairing clocks, furniture or whatever else anyone needed help with. He was an avid hunter, coming to his parents place on Bunker Hill every deer-hunting season from Connecticut to be with his friends and neighbors. If the walls of that old school house could talk, what stories they would tell.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1938 and was discharged as a master sergeant in 1945. He was a member of the 57th Fighter Group, 64th Fighter Squadron . the Black Scorpions. He was very proud of his service to his country. He was instrumental in the planning and building of the New England Air Museum at Bradley Field in Windsor Locks, Conn. Bob donated many of his own pictures and momentos to this museum; many of which are one of a kind items and are being used to help the next generation learn and remember what the servicemen and women of WWII did for all of us.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at S. Gerald Weaver Funeral Home, Woodbury. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon with the service following. Placement of the ashes will be done privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the New England Air Museum, 36 Perimeter Road, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
