Hi. I grew up in San Bruno and started in radio in 1978 with CB and shortwave listening. I got my Novice license KA6UXZ in my junior year of high school in 1982. My current call sign is my old Technician one (currently hold Advanced class). In 2023, I moved to the rural community of Carlotta on 21 acres.
I am active on HF on a daily basis and monitor the K6FWR repeater system. I also log in on Echolink to say hello to ham friends on Bay Area repeaters. I prefer rag-chewing and a little DX. Ham radio has been my only hobby. Sportswise, I have lifted weights and done Judo and Jiu-Jitsu for over 40 years.
I have worked in public safety from age 21 to 59. In 1987, I started as an EMT and then Paramedic in San Mateo County. In 1996, I was a Paramedic for the City of San Francisco and then a SF Firefighter/Paramedic. In 2008, I left EMS and became a Police Officer in Oakland and retired out in 2024.
Hope to work you on the bands.
