Weldon "Steve" Barnes passed away on September 22, 2021, at Pomona Valley Hospital. He was 79.

Steve was born October 7, 1941, in Idabel, Oklahoma, the second of three sons to Thomas and Opal Barnes. The family soon made their way to California and settled in Ontario. Steve graduated from Chaffey High School, and later attended Chaffey College. He met Frances "Dee Dee" Chalupnik at the Foursquare Church Camp, Camp Cedar Crest, they were married in 1964. They settled in Upland and had three boys. He was very supportive of them and their activities.

He began his career as an Electronic Technician for the Federal Aviation Administration at age 18. He retired after 34 and one half years. He was an avid HAM radio operator, earning his license at age 16. He spent much of his spare time talking to people all over the world. He was also a collector of HAM radio equipment and enjoyed buying, selling, and trading at various swap meets and on Ebay. He enjoyed long-time friendships with his fellow "HAM buddies". Steve and Dee Dee were very supportive of their four grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their performances, school and church activities, games, etc. to cheer them on. Steve and Dee Dee were married for more than fifty years. After a long battle with Dementia, Dee Dee passed away in 2015. He then met Elinor Rector. They were married in 2016. Steve was a believer in Jesus Christ and attended church regularly throughout his life. He grew up in the Ontario Foursquare Church, and later, the Upland Foursquare Church. He most recently attended Purpose Church in Pomona. He will be remembered as a responsible, dependable father and husband and a great provider. He was a "Mr. Fix-it", and always happy to lend a helping hand.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Opal Barnes, and wife Frances Barnes. He is survived by sons Steven (Christine), Thomas (May Lesa), and Eric. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Symphony and Brighton Barnes, Kailie and Caeden (Kate) Barnes, and two great grandchildren Max and Mia. Memorial service pending.
