Mr John Clifton Anthony Jr of Sautee Nacoochee passed away on Wednesday, Nov 4 at the Gardens of Gainesville Assisted Living Facility in Gainesville, GA. He was 96.

Mr Anthony was born in Birmingham, Al in 1924 to the late Dr John Anthony Sr and Mary Smith Anthony. He joined the U.S. Army in May of 1943, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Engineering in 1948 and married Sara Emily Hasson of Camden, AL on June 5th, of that same year. Mr. Anthony was employed at Lockheed in Marietta, GA for 15 years before relocating to Sautee in 1972. Mr. Anthony owned and operated the Sautee Inn Restaurant for over 25 years until his retirement. He was a life-long amateur radio hobbyist with the call-sign of K4PCA. Although his health in recent years has prevented his practice, he was an avid photographer who loved to shoot the beautiful rivers and mountain scenery of North Georgia.

He is survived by his three sons; David Anthony of Clermont, GA; John Clifton Anthony III and wife Carol of Colorado Springs, CO; and Robert Anthony and his wife Janis of Bent Tree, GA.

It was Mr. Anthony's request that he be cremated. The family will hold a private service at a later date.
