I would line up speakers and have great topics. I've done the antenna forum now for 25 years. I've only presented papers there twice, but I've coordinated it and made sure the papers there were top notch. I made sure there were a lot of RCA members on the agenda. Among others, Walter Maxwell, W2DU; Arch Doty, W7ACD; and Ted Rappaport, N9NB, have presented there," he said. Tim is also responsible for running the Contest Dinner at Dayton for the past 16 years.
Tim was appointed to ARRL Contest Advisory Committee for six years as Atlantic Division representative. He was appointed to chairman by the ARRL president for two years. He was also president of the Mercer County Amateur Radio Club for 10 years. Tim was awarded the Atlantic Division Technical Achievement award in 1993.
Tim is an enthusiast for competitive amateur radio operating events . contests . and he helps to encourage interest in the radio art among young people via a new program called Contest University. He and a group that he led as its chairman introduced the instructional program in 2007 at the Hamvention. Among the 150 students was 10-year-old Nathan Genusa, KE5LWF, of Hawkins, Texas.
Tim and a team of amateur radio friends operate his home station in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania (http://www.k3lr.com) in the highly technical and competitive multi-multi transmitter class in the CQ Worldwide and ARRL DX contests, both modes. He was honored for his service to amateur radio contesting with his induction into the prestigious CQ Contest Hall of Fame in 2006.
