Lou and Alice Gaul moved to Sussex, NJ on Maple Ave. in 1955.

They were very good neighbors, like family for 54 years. They had one son, Kenneth W. Gaul.Lou was the son of the late Lewis A. Gaul Sr. and Annie L. Daubert Gaul, born on April 2nd, 1924, in Reading,PA.Lou passed away on Nov.30th, 2009, after a short illness. At his son's home in Burke, VA. , surrounded by his family.Lou was predeceased by his 2nd wife of 50 years, Alice Wilson Gaul, in 2008, After a long illness. A sister, Katherine E. Gaul in 2006.Lou is survived by a son, Kenneth W. Gaul and his wife, Joyce, of Burke, VA. A brother, Paul Ellis Gaul of San Jose, CA. A sister, Mary Jane Chiralo of Wyomissing, PA. Two Grandsons, Christopher and Stephen Gaul, and several nieces and nephews.Lou, served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WWII in North Africa, Italy and Austria. He was employed by AT&T's Long Lines Division for 37 years as a supervisor and manager. He joined the Sussex Fire Department in 1959 and was an exempt member.

Lou, served on the Sussex Borough Council from 1964 to 1975 and also served as council president. He was a member of the Frist Baptist Church of Sussex, NJ where he served as a Trustee. He also attended the Glenwood Baptist Church and was a member of the Historic Old Clove Church Committee. Lou was an avid amateur radio and electronics enthusiast for many years and held an Extra Class Amateur Radio license with the call sign "K2YHY". He was a member of the American Radio Relay League in the 1960's, he was the main organizer of the High Point Amateur Radio Club and was a longtime member of the Sussex County Amateur Radio Club. He employed his electronics skills in volunteer work, including maintaining communication equipment for a number of area first responder organizations. He was an FCC Amateur Radio license testing volunteer examiner, a member of the NJ Civil Defense Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service, and volunteered for many years supervising radio communications for Sussex Air Shows.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Saturday the 5th of Dec. 2009 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, at 31 Bank St. , Sussex. Friends paid their repects to the Family on Friday, Dec. 4th,2009 from 2-4 p.m. and at 7-9p.m. Interment followed the funeral services in Fairview Cemetery in Wantage on Rt. 284, on Dec. 5th, 2009.

In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial donations be made to the Sussex Fire Department.
