Arthur Seidman, 78, of County Road died yesterday at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington.Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 1923, son of Jack and Frances Caesar Seidman, he graduated from Seward Park High School and from City College in New York City and received a master's degree from Hofstra University. He moved to Sheffield part time in 1977 and permanently in 1986.Mr. Seidman was professor of electrical engineering at Pratt Institute for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He wrote 13 books on electronics, one of which was translated into Spanish. He was a member of the IEEE Engineering Society and had been a ham radio operator since the 1950s. He was also a collector of buttons.

He and his wife, the former Lenore Cohn, were married Jan. 29, 1949, in Bronx, N.Y.. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Rebecca Kronfeld of Stoughton, and two grandchildren. A son, Benjamin Seidman, died in 1982.FUNERAL NOTICE -- Arthur Seidman, 78, of County Road, Sheffield, died Monday, May 14, 2001. Beloved husband of Lenore; father to Rebecca; father-in-law to Leonid, and grandfather to Danielle and Gabrielle.

The funeral will be graveside at Wellwood Cemetery, West Babylon, Long Island, N.Y., today, May 15, at 2:30, with Arthur Dobrin officiating.
