James Michael Hanson, 75, of Strasburg, died Monday, July 30 2018, at the Sanford hospital of Bismarck.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Strasburg.

Visitation will be from 12-8 pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Myers Funeral Home, Linton, ND.

He was born November 28, 1942, in Fargo, ND to Jacob and Myrtle Hanson.

Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and while serving in Germany he witnessed firsthand the Berlin Wall Crisis. After his discharge in 1962, he moved to Bismarck, and worked for Western Electric. He met and married his wife, Betty Lipp, on June 15, 1968. Later they moved to Jamestown, ND, where he worked for the EF Johnson Company, who later transferred him to Waseca, MN.

After returning to North Dakota, Jim accepted a job with the Jamestown School System. He was the IT Coordinator for the high school until he retired and moved to Strasburg.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and working his Amateur Radio. His talent with radio allowed him to talk to Astronauts, actor Tim Allen and Presidential Candidate Barry Goldwater. During his retirement he was a member of the Strasburg Lions Club, VFW, City Council and the Amateur Radio Relay League. He was the computer coordinator at Baker School and serviced personal computers for many people in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Strasburg; his son Michael (Sheila) Hanson of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and one sister, Joyce Cox of Alexander, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters; Mae Bolme, Beverly Johnson, Lois Buchholz and Fern Cole.

I have been married for 46 years to my wonderful wife Betty and have one son, Michael (NØWD) he lives in West Palm Beach FL. and work's for the West Palm Beach International Airport. I am retired from Jamestown Public School District in Jamestown, ND. I was the Technology Coordinator/Network Administrator and maintained 14 Novell Networks and four, MS-2000 Servers.

I enjoy Ham Radio, Fishing and Hunting.
