Kansas Sunflower Chapter #79 concluded operations on January 26, 2026.
After more than 51 years of fellowship, friendship, and service to amateur radio, the Kansas Sunflower Chapter #79 has gone silent.
Chapter Closure
After several years of unsuccessful efforts to identify members willing to serve as new chapter officers, the difficult decision was made to close the chapter.
Chapter members met to ratify the closure and determine how the funds accumulated during the chapter's 51 years of operation would be distributed.
With the closure of the chapter, the weekly Saturday morning QCWA Sunflower Net also concluded.
Chartered in 1974
The chapter began serving Kansas amateur radio operators on November 20, 1974.
Sunflower Net
Members gathered on the air each Saturday morning for the QCWA Sunflower Net.
51 Years of Service
Generations of officers, members, volunteers, and net participants supported the chapter.
