Michigan Chapter 10 Journal Article for the Fall 2008 Edition: Written June 28, 2008.

Michigan Chapter 10 held their Annual Meeting on May 03, 2008, at Cadillac, MI, in conjunction with the Wexaukee Amateur Radio Club swap and shop. Thanks to the Wexaukee Club for providing QCWA a table at this event at no charge.

Our Annual Meeting, held at the Waterfront Restaurant in Cadillac, MI, was attended by 41 members and guests. Following the luncheon, Mike Hall, WB8ICN, called the meeting to order. Election of officers was held and found Mel Moore, NM8L, from Grayling, MI as our new President, and Lowell Corbin, W8IQB, from Tustin, MI, as our new Vice President, both for a two year term, and Jim Bishop, W8JFB, was re-elected to a three year term as Secretary/Treasurer.

Our guest speaker, Larry McCalvy, WA9JMO, QCWA Director from Racine, WI, gave a brief presentation about QCWA, and assisted with the presentation of 18 QCWA Service Awards for 2008. The 12 award recipients were: Both "50th Anniversary Of Licensing Award" & " 50 Years Of Continuous Licensing Award" were presented to: Gordon K. Bean, K8MRS, St. Charles, MI, David M. Clark, W8DO, Kalamazoo, MI, Myriam R. Gregg, K8ILN, Ionia, MI, Richard S. Larsen, K8MW, Lake, MI, Edwin J. Robinson, K8MDV, Clinton Township, MI. Harbour, NW8M, Saint Clair, MI, and John Jan Jellema, K1ND, Ypsilanti, MI. Our sincere congratulations to all of these award recipients for their many years of dedication to amateur radio and to the QCWA.

We would like to extend a sincere welcome to these new members of QCWA & Chapter 10, and hope that you enjoy many years of good fellowship: James W. Dow, N8KSL, from Rochester, MI, Paul D. Zadonia, WD8CJN, from Pinconning, MI, and James J. Delongchamp, WB8IEH, from Ishpeming, MI.

It is with deepest regrets that we must report the Silent Key status of long time devoted QCWA & Chapter 10 member, Alex, "Polly", Polityka, W8FLA, from Allegan, MI, & Fort Pierce, FL. Polly was first licensed in 1931, and joined QCWA with the membership number of #04270. Active on many nets and in many organizations, Polly was 95 years of age and a QCWA Honorary Life Member.

Because we do not know the winners of the QCWA election at the time this article is being written, we would like to extend our congratulations to those individuals that are successful in their bid for the various offices in our recent QCWA election, and we thank all those individuals that were willing to run for those offices. We had an outstanding slate of candidates in this election. We all look forward to supporting all of you as we move forward with the QCWA mission.

As summer winds down, we would like to wish everyone the very best of Holiday Greetings as the Thanksgiving and Christmas Seasons come upon us. Let us not forget Veteran's Day, and all those that gave so much for this great Country of ours. Respectfully submitted by:

James F. Bishop, W8JFB Secretary/Treasurer Michigan Chapter 10 June 27, 2008
