Military Service: U.S. World War II Army Enlistment Records, 1938-1946, 10 September 1940, Bristol, Bristol, Rhode Island, United States.

Sergeant Haskell was a ham radio operator in WWII. He spent over two years in a Japanese Prisoner of War camp and survived the Bataan Death March. Of 750 prisoners, he was one of only 76 to survive a Japanese Hell Ship.

The Pet Cemetery of Tucson was where he chose to be buried so that he could be buried next to his dogs.
