Chapter 1

I have been an amateur radio operator since 1986. I'm an ex-Navy man, was a radioman in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club. I am also a retired firefighter, retiring as a lieutenant after 25 years.

I have a modest station which includes a dual bandVHF/UHF rig and a Yaesu FT1000MP for HF work. My antennas are a Lightening Bolt 2 element quad on a 40 ft tower, with a dual band vhf/uhf antenna at the top of the mast, a Big SteppIR Vertical, and an inverted vee cut for 40 meters. I run only 100 watts at the present time. I have a VHF/UHF rig in my vehicle.

I am active with the Cuyahoga Amateur Radio Society, a local Cleveland Ohio area club (www.2cars.org), and edit their newsletter, The Wobbly Oscillator. I am also the license trustee for the K8ZFR repeater on 146.820. I'm a member of QCWA Cleveland Chapter One. I like to do public service work as well.

I QSL direct, thru the Bureau and via eQSL. See you on the bands.
