CROW, Maurice H. age 92, passed away peacefully at Bethany Village in Centerville, Ohio on December 2, 2010. He was born on August 18, 1918 in Zion, Illinois. Mr. Crow is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sylvia Evelyn (Lenharr) Crow, 2 daughters; Marian Posson and husband, Channing, of Huber Heights, Ohio and Linda Koudelka and husband, Brent of Silver Spring, Maryland, as well as 5 grandchildren, Diane Rohan (Nicholas), Linda Rechtin (Jason), David Posson, Patricia Cotter (Patrick) and Robert Koudelka (Mindi). Mr. Crow had 4 great grandchildren: William and Tate Rechtin, Nadia and Leia Koudelka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Crow and one brother Harold Crow.

Mr. Crow was a 1936 graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Ohio. He joined the U.S. Army in March 1941 with the 107th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment and trained at Fort Riley Kansas. After Pearl Harbor the regiment deployed to Fort Ord, California with 500 horses. He trained with General Patton's Third Army in the Mohave Desert in the summer of 1942. He then was transferred to the Signal Corps for 6 months of Radio Training at Davis, California. In March of 1945, he was assigned to the 69th Infantry Division in Belgium as a radio operator through the end of WWII. He was discharged from the Army on November 10, 1945 and returned to Dayton, Ohio.

After the war, Mr. Crow worked at Wright Patterson AFB as an aircraft electrician until his retirement in June 1977. He worked on many aircraft modification programs including the C130 gunship for Vietnam and the Pave Low Helicopter. Mr. Crow was an active Amateur Radio Operator (HAM) for 72 years beginning in July 1938. His call sign was *W8SEM*. He was a member of QCWA and ARRL. Mr. Crow was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, with internment at David's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 - 5:00 P.M., on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Belmont United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
