Chapter 229
W8PNZ - Philip T. 'Phil' Hogan
First Call: W8PNZ       Other Call(s): KK6FCG

First licensed as Novice in November, 1953, Passed General in 1954 and was active for quite a few years. Employed in the Telecommunications industry for many years working with Microwave, VHF/UHF, Fiber Optics, Data Transmission and other transmission media. Made the mistake of not renewing my ham license in 1979, while residing in the Middle East. Retired at age 56 from the ITT Engineering Department at the Western Missle Test Range, Vandenberg AFB CA. Relocated to Southern Baja Mexico near Cabo San Lucas for a couple of years, chasing big fish and cerveza freo! Returned to work in Southern California, during the start up telphone company industry rush. Retired again upon the collapse of the dot com's.

Remarried and moved again to Baja Sur, building a good sized ocean view home. Cancer very unexpectedly took my wife before the house was completed and I lived there for nearly a year before returning to the Menifee/Sun City CA, where I remained for 11 years before I relocated in August 2017 to Rainbow Springs.

Became bored with being a couch potato in 2013 and decided to return to ham radio. Ten days later passed Technician and General and in about two weeks additional time obtained Extra Class. Applied for a Vanity Call and reverted to my original call - W8PNZ. Active on HF and VHF.

73,
Phil
