First licensed in 1963 as WN8HSM, received General Class license in 1964, held the call of WA8HSM until 2002, then received vanity call sign of W8JFB. Lived in Owosso, Michigan until 1985 then lived in Gainesville, Fla. until 1991, returned to Michigan and have resided in St. Ignace since 1998. I first became interested in radio at the age of 7 yr. old,(1949), when my Mother bought me a crystal radio kit for Christmas. My close friend and Elmer, W8CAP (sk), Paul "Tony" Wesch, furthered my radio interests and gave me my Novice exam in Dec. of 1962. I am a Life Member of the ARRL, Life Member of QCWA, #22968, Member of FISTS #9761, Armored Forces Net #441, SKCC # 3589.

I operate ssb and cw on 80 thru 10mtrs, with CW being my favorite mode of operation. My other hobbies include, hunting, fishing, outdoor photography, reading, and traveling around the Great Lakes area. I am retired from County Road Commission work after 27 years, having served as a Superintendent Manager for the last 20 years. Married to my Wife, Stella, we have "many" children, and Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. My station consists of a TenTec Omni VI plus transceicer, TenTec Antenna Tuner, TenTec KR50 Keyer and my antenna is an inverted V up at 40 ft. I thoroughly enjoy CW rag chewing, as well as the various ssb nets that I belong to.
