Chapter 201

I have been a Ham about since 02/1992 and hold an extra class license. Electronics have been a love from my youth. I can't say I have been very good at it but the love is there.

I have been in the computer industry since 1977 and have been in many areas of the business.

Basic stamps/PICs have been an enjoyable aspect of microprocessors that captured my interest. This came as a result of my interest in our High altitude balloons projects.

All aspects of ham radio are of interest, such as HF, VHF, UHF, Packet, APRS, and other digital modes including a D-Star repeater I manage.

I have retired from the wireless Internet business. I have been in a leadership position for our local club (The Voice of Idaho ARC.) for many years, including president twice and immediate past president five times :)

I am part of a VE Team and we provide a testing session the first Saturday of the month here in Boise.

I was the chairman for the committee that was responsible for the Idaho PRB-1 like law to help keep excessive regulation away from ham towers and antenna's.

Organized local ham involvement in "Santa's Workshop" HF contact from the North Pole, for kids with cancer and hospitalized youth.

Created a local .Over The Hill Commute Group. morning net that meets each weekday morning on a local repeater. It has been running over a decade.

After 3 terms as the Idaho Section Manager I did not run again. I am using a IC-756ProII with a 4 element SteppIR or a G5RV on a 60 foot tower for HF work. GRMS call = WQDT939
