San Mateo Times April 19, 1948 - Millbrae Girl Weds Navy Man
MILLBRAE, April 19.-Miss Barbara Ainsworth, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. C.J. Ainsworth, 203 Poplar Avenue, and Commander Gordon George Braendle (M.C.)United States Navy, were married at the chapel of Treasure Island on Saturday afternoon, April 3. The candlelight ceremony was performed by Chaplain M. G. Beck. The bride, given in marriage byher father, was attired in a silver brocaded satin suit with matching accessories and carried three white orchids. Her only attendant, Mrs.Pendelton J. Slaughter of Texas, wore a gray suit with blue accessories. The groom was attended by a former classmate, Captain Pendelton J. Slaughter, USN. One hundred and seventy-five guests attended the reception which was held at the auditorium of themerchant marine school, Coyote Point, in the late atfernoon and early evening. Many guests from Millbrae were schoolmates of Barbara. The new Mrs. Braendle attended grammar school in Millbraeand, is a graduate of Burlingame High school and San Mateo Junior College. The benedict, who is the son of Dr. Samuel Braendle of Grand Rapids, MI, is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The couple will make their home in the Marina, San Francisco, following a honeymoon tour of Northern California.
