QCWA # 26493
Chapter 45

Cloyd A. Taylor, 95, of Toccoa, Georgia, passed away January 21, 2015. He was raised in Ohio, graduating from Wooster High School in 1938. He was a WW2 Army Air Corp Veteran as a Radio Mechanic and flew many missions as a radio operator. While stationed in England he met Kathleen "Peg" Rigby who became his wife in November 1944 ( his English War Bride) and they were married for 62 years until her death in 2006. He has been a Ham Radio operator for most of his adult life and was a member of Orlando Amateur Radio Club, Lake Monroe ARS, and QCWA (Quarter Century ) for over 65 years. After retiring from the Air Force he was a cameraman for major networks and freelancing covering the NASA rocket launches and filming the Martin Luther King march in Selma, AL. He was a partner in Photomart-Cine Video (sales, service and rentals of movie and video equipment). His career in films and photography was exciting and embraced the cutting edge of that industry with the many changes in social events. In his retirement days, he and Peg traveled to the mountains of Montana to be with his 'Western Family", his niece Holly and Jim Cutting, where they stayed many summers and enjoyed the scenery there. His final months were spent at Westminster Towers in Orlando, where he enjoyed attending ham radio events with his friends, playing Skip-Bo, and the many visits from family.

Cloyd could be "wonderfully contrary" and his family loved for him that. Once his mind was made up, he didn't come off of it. He started from impoverished means to amazing commercial success, all due to his dogged determination and natural ability. But he was through and through an American and proud of it. He has always loved and been there for his family without exception.

They had lots of fun times with him and they will have many great memories to remember him by. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peg, his daughter Susan Lynn, parents, Cloyd Sr. And Lula Bess, sister Betty, brother, Bill. Surviving family are his daughter Karan Lamoreaux Mell and husband John, Toccoa, GA, grandsons, Greg Lamoreaux, Newnan, Ga, Ben and Kristy Lamoreaux, Apopka, FL, Kyle Lamoreaux, Lake Mary, FL, great grandsons Austin and Peyton. Grandaughter Jenni Lynn Larson, Orlando, FL, niece Holly and Jim Cutting, Kila, Montana, nephews, Jack and Lynne Eby, Scottsdale, AZ, Dave and Tammy Eby, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Keith Hillary and family, Bognor Regis, UK.

Hi Holly,

I am the vice president of QCWA and wish our organization's most sincere condolences at this sad time for you and your family.

I knew your uncle as he traveled with us on one of QCWA's radio Cruises, I believe it was our first one in October of 2001.

Thank you for the response to our birthday greetings and I will pass on the information.
