Chapter 126

Greetings from W4DX!

I was originally licensed in 1983 as a novice with call sign KB4HKG. After years of raising a family of 2 boys and 2 girls, I received my general license in August 2007 with the call sign KI4YPC. I upgraded to extra a month later and received the call sign AJ4BT. I was issued the vanity call sign W4DX in May 2010.

I enjoy operating on the HF bands. I am just starting to work CW and am having a lot of fun with it. I also enjoy 2 meters/440 including D-Star and DMR quite a bit.

My family has three generations of hams. My father Charles KB4AK (SK) was first licensed at age 13 in 1939 as W4JMI and my oldest son Jace W4JSJ earned his general class license in 2008.

Current operating conditions:

Icom 7410, Elecraft KX3. Antennas include a G5RV, a half-wave 20m vertical, and a 5 band Hexxbeam. Mobile, base and handheld rigs for UHF/VHF including DStar and DMR modes. Have a DV Mega/Raspberry Pi running for a DStar hotspot.
