Farewell to Powell

Powell Krueger was 94 when he died last month and I don't believe he was that old. Among the photographers at the old Star and Tribune, he was one of the best and we covered lots of stories together. We went to Canada for Queen Elizabeth when she was young and lovely (but she wouldn't talk to me) and to Willmar, Minn., for a Kaffe Fest queen who was equally young and lovely (and she would talk to me). From Willmar, we whizzed away, turning west instead of east, and ended up in Watertown, S.D. It was hilarious, and we always remembered it.

Krueger is worth remembering, too. He was a good photographer and a great friend.

As with most photgraphers, there are many pictures by Powell, there are few of him!

His call in now held by John Luce of Pequot Lakes, MN. I understand John worked with Powell at the Minneapolis Star and Tribune.
