Dr. John H. Berry JR, DDS died suddenly Monday, February 11, 2008, in Hattiesburg, Miss. He was born January 28, 1944, in McAlester, Okla., to John H. Berry Sr. and Doris V. (Gamble) Berry.
John grew up and attended school in McAlester, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1962. He then attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman where he graduated in 1966. He married Janelle (Owens) Berry December 30, 1967, while attending the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry where he graduated in 1970.
John practiced dentistry in Savannah, Mo., for over 20 years until moving to Springfield 15 years ago where he practiced public health dentistry for Greene County. He most recently practiced with Dr. Ker in a private practice.
He was an active amateur radio operator for 51 years with the call sign WØNXU.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald. John is survived by his wife, Janelle; a son, Christopher and his wife, Kathy, of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Andrea Berry of Liberal, Kan.; and a brother, David of Wynnewood, Okla.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with services beginning at 7 p.m. Following cremation, burial will be at a later date in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Parkville, Mo.
