Joshua Premack, WØKZD, will celebrate his 75th Anniversary as a Ham in 2009. Josh was born in Mitchell, SD on February 25, 1918 and shortly thereafter moved to Aberdeen, SD and then to Minneapolis, MN in the early 1930's. At the age of 11, he built his first radio - a two tube receiver. He was first licensed in 1934 as W9SJL which, after WWII, became WØSJL. After receiving a degree in 1939 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Josh moved to Chicago for a short time where he held the call, W9JAK. Returning to Minneapolis, to work for Honeywell, he was assigned his current call, WØKZD. After retirement, Josh wintered in Tucson and eventually moved to his present QTH in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains on the north side of Tucson. Josh is still active on the radio - operating mostly on 17 meters using a Kenwood TS830 and an inverted vee dipole.
