Gerry was licensed in 1956 and has been an active DX'er over the years. His work as a telephone tech with Alberta Government Telephones, now Telus, had him moving from place to place in Alberta and from department to department. In 1975 he started a small company to assist law enforcement with some high tech equipment. The equipment found it's way into many agencies in Canada and the U.S.A.. In 1980, he retired from telephone work and went full time into his own business. The business grew and changed and became more than a full time occupation and he was joined by his wife Flo, KD7ATS, Son Cliff, VE6PLC and Son Kim. The work took them to many countries around the world serving mainly the Oil Industry. Now retired and just hamming. On the Amateur front, Gerry served in many positions with the Calgary Amateur Radio Assoc., a Founding member of the Edmonton DX Club. founding member of the Calgary Communications Club (Still Pres*** Left office Oct. 2014.) and founding member of the Golden Vista Amateur Radio Group in Apache Junction, Az. In addition, is a member of Q.C.W.A.>

The station consist of a Yaesu FT-1000 MP Mk.V. Ameritron AL-80A Linear, SteppIR 3 El. Beam, & 40/80 trapped dipole & a Alpha Delta DX-B Sloper for 30, 40, 80,160 PLUS A NEW ADDITION, A 43 FT. VERTICAL FOR ALL BANDS. On VHF, there is quit an assortment of base and mobile rigs.>
