Calgary, ON, Canada
KLASSEN, Jean Lucille: Jean Lucille Klassen of Calgary died peacefully at the age of 79, on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Foothills Medical Centre. Born December 23, 1931 to Gertrud and Harold Brotchie in Young, Saskatchewan, Jean met her husband, Cornelius, in Saskatoon. They later moved to Edmonton where their son, Larry was born.
Jean is fondly remembered as a lively and spirited woman, who was often very active in the community, and who loved to travel. She will also be remembered for her many years as a sales representative for Wardair in Edmonton, and later, in Calgary. Jean enjoyed skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, amateur radio, and life itself.
She was predeceased by her husband, Cornelius Klassen, and brother, Bill Brotchie, and is survived by her sisters, Grace and Margaret, her son, Larry (Sandy), her grandchildren, Jennifer (Kris) and Malcolm, and step-grandson, Alex. A loving and generous sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Jean touched many lives. We will all miss her terribly.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at LEYDEN'S FUNERAL HOME, preceded by public visitation. Interment will be at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Edmonton on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
