George has been licensed since 1946 and has been an experimenter and operator on most bands and modes. As AMSAT life member #248 he worked the Oscars, worked on batteries and modules that flew on the Euosats, and heard his signal from the space shuttle. He was a pioneer in repeaters putting the first one on the air in 1964 and at the same time was a member of a team putting a fast scan repeater on the air. George has been a part of many activities in amateur radio. He was chairman of the 1995 convention hosted by Chapter 70. He has served in the Lanark & Renfrew Infantry Signals (reserve) and the Third Signals Regiment. He had a 15 year career in craft and supervisory positions with Bell Canada which prepared him for 35 years as director of engineering at a 50 kW AM and 100 kW FM Broadcasting station. His has served as an executive and trade show manager of the Central Canada Broadcast Engineers. He is a member of IEEE, ARRL and AMSAT-UK
