The Mid-Ohio Chapter of QCWA was pleased to present its first chapter awards on February 29, 2004.
Richard Schlieffer, W9ZZX, and Harry Vollmer, W8LXC, both charter members of the QCWA Mid-Ohio Chapter 212,
were the first recipients of 50th Anniversary Award.

The newly chartered Central Ohio Chapter 212 met on February 29, 2004 and the ten members present approved and adopted a constitution for the chapter by unanimous vote. Chapter membership presently stands at eighteen members. The chapter conducts a monthly net meeting on the Columbus 146.76 MHz repeater and plans interface meetings at The Ohio State University Club W8LT and the Lancaster Fairfield County Amateur Radio Club K8QIK in the immediate future. 

Not only was the adoption of a constitution a significant highlight, but in addition, Chapter President Fritz Tender, WD8E, had the distinct pleasure of presenting 50 Year Certificates to chapter charter members Richard "Dick" Schlieffer, W9ZZX, and Harry Vollmer, W8LXC.  

Dick is a Navy veteran of World War II and was first licensed in 1953. He holds a BS in TV Engineering and was employed by the Greyhound Corporation, National Broadcasting Company's WNBQ Chicago, and later Motorola for twenty-eight years before his retirement in 1988. He holds an Amateur Extra class license and FCC Commercial First Class Radiotelphone license. He is currently resides in Lancaster Ohio and is trustee of the Lancaster Fairfield County Ohio Amateur Radio Club Station K8QIK.
