Chapter 64

I joined the Ham Radio community when I passed my Novice exam during my sophomore year in high school and received my novice license in June 1958. Although I have had a few short periods of inactivity, I have always been continually licensed. My first call was KN5RIE and then became K5RIE after passing the technician and general license. I moved to Ohio after graduation from college and the FCC changed my call to W8KMB. I moved back to Texas in 1973 and became W5UHJ. In the mid 70's, I changed my call to N5RK.

My present station consists of a Kenwood TS-590S, a JRC JST-245, a Swan MK II amplifier for HF, and a Swan Mark 6B for 6 meters. The antennas are a Cushcraft A-3WS for 12 and 17 meters with 3 elements added for 6 meters mounted 5 feet above a Mosley Classic 36. Attached to the tower are inverted V's for 80 and 40.
