KN2Y Douglas A. Randall Hampton Bays, NY QCWA # 29584 Chapter 81

I am KN2Y, formly WB2ZTD a tech. I am now an Extra. I love ham radio and it has been part of my life for a very long while. My shack would be envyed by most hams. 12 by 18 foot room with many, many radios, computers and power supplies... Back around 1957 I was approached by a ham who I had little use for and he asked me if I wanted a ham license. I thought about it, did a little research and decided it would be interesting. I took the test (with a little study first) and got on VHF as a Tech. I decided that was my calling! I was WB2ZTD. It didn't take long for me to learn the ropes, joined a club and was happy as a lark...until I heard the guys talking about their HF fun. The next testing session I sat for the General, passed it and asked if I wanted to try for Advanced... Past that one too. Next question, Extra? I said why not. To everyone's suprise I made that too. I soon after changed my call to KN2Y. My wife and daughter are both Tech's. I am a member of QCWA and LM of ARRL.
